Here are a few of the opportunities we offer to you, as the largest first year School of Business and Economics (SBE) club:
- First Year Executive Positions in September 2008
- Information Sessions and Guest Speakers for Co-op, the year long BDO Dunwoody New Venture Project and the individual case assignment
- Quizbowl - a team competition designed to help first years study for their BU111 and BU121 exams with applicable questions and prizes!
- Monthly Volunteering Events: Last year, we sent a team of XLerate members to help out with the Canadian Cancer Society's Annual Relay for Life, the Salvation Army's Trees of Angels Campaign and the Trick-or-Eat Campaign with the Meal Exchange program in Kitchener-Waterloo
- In the 2006-2007 academic year, we introduced athletics into XLerate. Three co-ed basketball teams represented XLerate in the WLU Intramurals. The "Your Mom is XL" team became the champions for co-ed basketball league during the fall semester. This upcoming year, we plan continue and grow our intramural sports involvement, as in the past year.
- XLerate's Annual Case Conference - This case conference is exclusively for first year students. In teams of four, you will receive a couple hours to work through the given case. Throughout the day, there is a guest speaker, raffles for prizes, lunch provided and the opportunity to view the top teams' presentations. Each team will present in front of a panel of judges consisting of WLU alumni, professors, and respectable people in the industry.
